Our digital festival REMIX is live and going strong!
After the disappointing news that we were no longer able to stage the two days of live events this year, we’re delighted to be able to bring you five days of online workshops, live digital events and music!
We’re hosting a range of activities here on our brand new website, including Sector Spotlight featuring some of the amazing resources, workshops and projects that have kept the music education sector alive throughout the pandemic; A series of Top Tip Videos from our Music Mentors on topics such as improvisation and arranging for a beginner ensemble; a daily Frequencies Playlist featuring young artists’ music; and daily live performances on our YouTube channel, showcasing those who were going to perform at the previously planned live event.
Our workshops include two free interactive workshops on Zoom for young musicians aged 16-21. These are “Remix your Songwriting with Bridget Walsh” which took place on Tuesday 6th July at 7pm, and “Using Ableton as a Live Instrument with Alan Keary AKA Shunya”, which will take place Thursday 8th July at 7pm, you can sign up to attend here.
The weeks’ events kicked off with the launch of our new National Festival REMIX 2021 video wall. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who submitted their videos, we have been so inspired by the way that young people and the music education sector has responded to the challenges that Covid-19 has presented. The way everyone has adapted, innovated and reconfigured how to perform, learn and socialise through music has been incredible to see.
We hope you enjoy this week of virtual events, and hope to see you at a live event very soon.
