Music for Youth Proms
Featuring BBC Ten Pieces
Showcasing the brilliance of young musicians from across the UK.
The Music for Youth Proms showcases the brilliance of young musicians from across the whole UK. Known for its electric atmosphere and diverse musical performances, each night, over 1500 amazing young musicians perform on the iconic Royal Albert Hall stage in ensembles, bands, and choirs large and small. From orchestral classics to traditional folk and roots and from big band jazz to big sound rock and pop.
At the heart of this year’s Music for Youth Proms is a special new piece by composer Cassie Kinoshi, titled ‘the colour of all things constant’. The piece is commissioned in partnership with BBC, ABRSM and the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Ten Pieces project. With words by poet Belinda Zhawi, the commission focuses on the powerful and timely theme of kindness and is one of several works from the much-loved BBC Ten Pieces list to be performed during the Proms.
This year we are also highlighting the incredible work music teachers do through our Thank Your Music Teacher campaign and we will be recognising the life-changing work of one dedicated teacher who has gone above and beyond to make musical magic happen in their community.
