Subsidy Application

The aim of this subsidy is to address financial barriers for participating groups who would not otherwise be able to take part in an event run by Music for Youth. The subsidy prioritises financial support, based on evidence of need, to groups that experience challenging circumstances.

Criteria

Any group can apply for a subsidy. However, not all those that apply will be granted a subsidy and priority will be given to groups that fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Schools where 50% or more pupils are in receipt of free school meals.
  • Schools achieving less than 40% A-C grades at GCSE.
  • Primary schools achieving 10% below the LEA target for English and Maths at KS2.
  • Schools that have not taken part in the MFY season before.
  • Schools that reside in hard-to-reach areas or rural isolation.

  • Young people at risk from exclusion.
  • Those in care or about to leave care.
  • Those from low-income families.
  • People with physical or educational special needs.
  • Young people who are underachieving.
  • Groups that have not taken part in the MFY season before.
  • Young person led groups.
  • Groups that come from hard-to-reach areas or rural isolation.

Application Process

  1. Once you receive an invitation to perform in an MFY event you need to complete the subsidy application form (see below).
  2. Please evidence the need for financial assistance referencing the criteria outlined on the Subsidy Policy and submit to programmes@mfy.org.uk
  3. Music for Youth will make a decision on all applications within good time of the date of the event and will inform all applicants via email.

Assessment of Application

  • All applications will be assessed against the criteria outlined in the Subsidy Policy, and the funding available. Please use the criteria provided to evidence need for this support.
  • We aim to offer applicants up to 30% of costs but please note that funds are limited, and it may not always be possible to offer all applicants a subsidy, nor the maximum of 30%.
