What is Frequencies?
Frequencies is Music for Youth’s programme for emerging young musicians aged 16-21, interested in developing a career in the music industry.
Pre-covid, Frequencies events were typically day-long events, offering unsigned independent young artists and bands aged 21 and under the chance to perform, collaborate with other artists, work with professionals, get 1:1 feedback and meet industry experts. Previous Frequencies events included sessions with Universal, Un-Convention, Fyfe Dangerfield, Paugwé, Hobbit, Jason Singh, Paul Griffiths and the RNCM Session Orchestra.
From December 2020 to April 2021, MFY's Associate Artist and Creative Consultant Jason Singh presented a series of internet radio shows featuring some fantastic tracks from emerging young artists.
Frequencies at REMIX 2021, the National Festival
Our Frequencies artists are also involved in our other events throughout the year including our annual Prom and National Festival.
Due to covid restrictions, this year our National Festival will be delivered entirely online. We are running song writing workshops via Zoom and our Frequencies Artists have been invited to perform live via our YouTube channel.
Our Frequencies programme offers opportunities for you to develop your practice as an emerging artist. As part of our network, you'll get access to specific, curated Frequencies events, in addition to being invited to take part in our youth consultation forum- giving you the opportunity to have your say in the activities we programme for you.
If you're looking for a career in the creative industries, and aged 16-21, then connect with us today! Our dedicated Youth Engagement producer, Claire Sivier, is on hand to learn more about you and to see if there might be ways for you to benefit from our programme.
With Special Thanks to Vivendi
Music for Youth's Frequencies programme is sponsored by Vivendi Create Joy Fund; a fund which seeks to develop individual and collective talent through music, film, content creation and journalism projects. Focussing specifically on artists aged 16-21, Music for Youth and Vivendi Create Joy Fund have united their aims of helping young people facing disadvantage, difficulty and disconnection, by providing opportunities and links to the professional music sector through a programme of educational and performance-based initiatives.
The Frequencies programme helps emerging artists reach their full potential, raise their self-esteem, build self-confidence and create happiness.
